イギリス国防省認める--「劣化ウランは健康障害を引き起こす危険性あり」
現在、イラク駐留中のイギリス軍兵士に対し、下記のような内容の「劣化ウラン情報カード」が発行されているというメールニュースです。（２月１８日の“du-list”より）
後に続くのは、メーリングリストに流れた、この事実を知った英国湾岸戦争帰還兵の訴えです。 （試訳：嘉指信雄／NO DU ヒロシマ・プロジェクト）

DU Information Card (Introduced: 03/03) F Med 1018
You have been deployed to a theatre where Depleted Uranium (DU) Munitions have been used.
DU is a weakly radioactive heavy metal, which has the potential to cause ill health.
You may have been exposed to dust containing DU during your employment.

Further Information
You are eligible for an urine test to measure uranium.
If you wish to know more about having this test, you should consult your unit medical officer on return to your home base. Your medical officer can provide information about the health effects of DU.

なお、「ウラン兵器禁止国際キャンペーン」事務局（アムステルダム）に、「DU情報カード」の発行時期が「０３／０３」となっていることについて尋ねてみましたところ、下記のような返事が返ってきました。
「質問??
とても重要な情報を本当にありがとう。
「発行：０３／０３」と書かれています。
これは、この情報カードは２００３年３月に発行されたということ、そして、
それにもかかわらず、「発行」されていたことがやっと今になって明るみに出て
きた、ということを意味するのでしょうか？
すぐに教えてもらえたら、とても有り難いです。」
「返答：
その通りです。私も、このことが去年公にならなかったことに驚いています。
確かに、口を閉ざしているよう兵士たちにプレッシャーがかけられていることは
良く承知していますが。」 |
以下は、、劣化ウラン弾関係メーリングリストに流された、湾岸戦争帰還兵であるレイモンド・ブリストウ氏の訴えです。

「国防省認める??劣化ウランは健康障害を引き起こす可能性あり」
イラクに派遣されている英国軍は、現在、「F Med (医学ファイル)１０１８」を発行されている。
何故、イラク戦争、バルカンや湾岸での戦争の前に発行されなかったのだろうか？
他の国々から派遣されている隊員たちは、英国軍兵士はこの警告カードを与えられていることを知っているのだろうか？
イラク市民は、この警告カードを知っているのだろうか？
世界各地の試射場近くに住む人々は、この警告カードを知っているのだろうか？
この警告カードのコピーをイラク市民のために作って、彼らが、イラクにあるイギリスやアメリカの軍事施設に出向き、検査を受けられるようにすべきである。ウラン弾を使用したのはアメリカやイギリスなのだから。
［湾岸戦争帰還兵である］私のところにファックスで送られてきたカードのフォト・コピーをどうぞ広めてください。
国防省は、第一次湾岸戦争の帰還兵たちに、「劣化ウランは安全である」と言い続けてきたことを忘れないでください。「虚偽」のさらなる証拠。
第一次湾岸戦争では劣化ウランは実験的なものだったと言われていた??だが、戦争の後になってから帰還兵の健康への影響を認めるとは、ニュルンベルク規約違反のさらなる証拠ではないか？

Does this mean that this information card was introduced in March、 2003, but this
"introduction" came to light only now?

That is correct. I am also amazed that this hasn't become public in the
past
year, even when I am fully aware about fact that soldiers are pressed to
keep silence.

card who around the world live near test firing range's.
Copies of this card should be made for the Iraqi civilians to turn up at
British & American Military establishments in Iraq and ask for testing

It was said that DU was experimental
during Gulf War 1 - then is this
another demonstration of the breaking
of the Nuremberg Code by observing the health effects on the Veterans after the
